RJW Digital has developed a reputation for quality online advertising and marketing on a budget for smaller local businesses in Australia. With a growing clientele, however, it was becoming increasingly challenging to find a stable hosting solution that offered above-par support to offset the costs of starting a new business. Cloudways: Can you give a brief description of your agency?

Roger: I started RJW Digital in mid-2019 with a focus on helping smaller local businesses (we are based in Sydney, Australia) get a foot in the door when it comes to online marketing and advertising without breaking the bank. Our main services include Website Design and Development, Search Engine Optimisation, Social Media Marketing, and Pay Per Click Advertising. We now partner with around 25 – 30 businesses, helping them to improve their presence online, and have expanded our team and reach throughout Australia.

Cloudways: What challenges were you facing that compelled you to start looking for a better hosting solution?

Roger: My priorities from the beginning have always been to offer great service, support, and stability (although asking for stability with SEO is like asking for rain to fall upwards!) As a one-man operation (at the time), I had a growing clientele and associated costs coupled with the generally high startup costs of a new business. I had to refine my processes and implement efficiencies to avoid spreading myself too thin, from a client perspective as well as financially.

Cloudways: What specific solution were you looking for in your ideal solution to your problem?

Roger: I was primarily looking for a solution that was scalable, that grew as my business did. This would avoid me having to charge my clients unnecessarily high hosting fees, particularly since their websites were going to have very low traffic throughput (initially).

Cloudways: How did you figure Cloudways had the best solution for your problems?

Roger: A friend of mine who had been a web developer for a number of years recommended Cloudways to me (whilst conveniently benefitting from the referral program Cloudways has in place). I was skeptical at first (I mean, REALLY skeptical!), but after doing a bit of research which was basically a Google search of “Cloudways reviews” and “Is Cloudways hosting legit?” I thought I would give it a try, and I immediately fell in love.

Cloudways: What success did you initially face when porting to Cloudways?

Roger: How easy the process was! No more setting up cPanel and manually installing WordPress on each new hosting server. It was essentially a couple of clicks and I was good to go! (Did I mention I was skeptical?)

Cloudways: Has Cloudways helped you save money or increase productivity?

Roger: Absolutely! The real-time billing feature is a godsend and was exactly what I was looking for, only charging me for the resources used, rather than an arbitrary amount per month! Also, as mentioned earlier, the fact that I could get a new server or application up and running in a few clicks meant that I could get started on building and designing the websites quicker and easier.

Cloudways: Can you share any specific KPI or metric that shows how Cloudways works better with Brizy?

Roger: If I’m to be completely honest, I started using Brizy after I discovered Cloudways, so I don’t necessarily have anything to compare it to. But with consistently high scores on GTMetrix and Google PageSpeed Insights, particularly around the ever-elusive Core Web Vitals, the speed and performance prove that Brizy and Cloudways are the perfect match. Cloudways’ built-in Breeze Caching plugin definitely helps as well!

Cloudways: What do you advise the people willing to host their Brizy sites with Cloudways?

Roger: It’s a no-brainer! Particularly with the new “One-click Brizy Install”. If you like making things harder on yourself, then definitely don’t host your Brizy sites (or any other sites for that matter) with Cloudways.

Cloudways: Do you know we partnered up with Brizy and you can install it with one click?

Roger: Yes, this is a fantastic feature that is just going to increase productivity even more. It’s like sliced bread all over again (only better)!

Cloudways: What are some features that you think allowed you to manage such a huge number of sites?

Roger: The fact that everything is there is a simple, well-designed dashboard with ease of access to monitoring of my servers and applications means that troubleshooting is an absolute breeze. The in-built CDN, Elastic emails, and free SSL encryption from the same dashboard also maximize productivity and again, highlights the versatility of Cloudways and their offering.

Cloudways: What cloud providers did you choose? What do you think of the flexibility of choosing a cloud provider at Cloudways?

Roger: I love the power and speed that Vultr provides for the very reasonable price that is offered.

Every web project has different requirements and the versatility and flexibility offered by Cloudways with their range of cloud providers means that there is a solution for everyone and every application.

Cloudways: How do you find our staging environment and cloning feature?

Roger: Extremely straightforward and simple to use. The fact that this is built into the platform at no extra cost is amazing given that other hosting providers would charge a premium for an inferior experience.

Cloudways: How would you rate our customer support experience?

Roger: I’ve never had to wait longer than a couple of minutes to get connected to an agent, and the service delivery has always been top-tier. The friendly and professional approach of the agents is always welcoming and their solutions focussed outlook has left me consistently satisfied with the service.

Cloudways: What overall impact did Cloudways have on your business? Before and after? Speed, performance, multiple site management?

Roger: It’s literally been a game-changer for me and my business. I have around 30-40 sites hosted with Cloudways and the way that they have designed their platform and service to be scalable and flexible rather than a “one-size fits all” approach makes me wonder why there aren’t more businesses following suit!

The peace of mind knowing that all of my websites are securely backed up on an off-site server allows me to confidently utilize Cloudways knowing that they look after me and my clients.

Cloudways: Was there anything surprising about moving to Cloudways?

Roger: Just how easy everything is… there is obviously a learning curve involved when starting out, however, with the amazing customer service and well-designed dashboard, giving you full overview and control of your servers, it didn’t take long to really start effectively using Cloudways.

Cloudways: Do you have any advice for people or businesses that may face the same problem as you did?

Roger: Scaling your business is a daunting yet exciting time for every business owner. With growth comes further challenges and having a flexible platform that caters to growth is essential in overcoming these challenges. I would highly recommend Cloudways to anyone who is looking for a long-overdue solution to their scaling problems.
